1976–1982

The second-generation 100 that introduced Audi's signature five-cylinder engine — a layout no other manufacturer would adopt at this scale.
History
The inline-five gave Audi a distinctive character: smoother than a four, more characterful than a six, and perfectly suited to the 100's transverse-mounted, front-drive layout. The 5E fuel-injected variant was the enthusiast's pick.
