Porsche 911 (996)Photography coming soon
The first water-cooled 911. The 996 was the most controversial Porsche ever made, but it saved the company from bankruptcy and outsold every previous 911.
History
The 996 abandoned air cooling and the round headlights that had defined the 911 since 1963. Enthusiasts were furious. But the 996 was faster, more refined, and dramatically cheaper to build. The GT3 and GT2 variants silenced critics with raw racing performance.
