190E 2.5-16 Evolution II

DTM homologation legend. The massive rear wing on a conservative Mercedes was shocking.
History
The 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II was the most extreme Mercedes sedan ever produced. Designed for DTM homologation, it featured a Cosworth-developed 2.5-liter 16-valve engine producing 235 PS, an aggressive body kit with a prominent rear wing, wider fenders, and lowered suspension.
Only 502 were built, each numbered. The aerodynamic package was developed in the wind tunnel and generated genuine downforce at speed. The adjustable rear wing could be set for road or track use.
Klaus Ludwig and Roland Asch drove the Evolution II to multiple DTM victories. The car's aggressive appearance, combined with its Mercedes badge, created a contradiction that enthusiasts loved.
Values have risen dramatically: clean examples now command EUR 200,000 to EUR 400,000.
