The SUV that purists hated and accountants loved. The Cayenne's commercial success funded every Porsche sports car that followed.

History

When Porsche announced an SUV, the reaction was hostile. But the Cayenne outsold the 911 within its first year. The Turbo, with 450 hp and genuine off-road capability, proved Porsche could build an SUV without losing its soul. It shared its platform with the VW Touareg but drove like nothing else in its class.
