A V10 derived from the BMW-Sauber F1 program in a family sedan. 507hp, revving to 8250rpm. The most outrageous M5 ever.

History

BMW put a Formula 1-derived V10 in a sedan. The S85 engine shared design philosophy with the P86 F1 engine, with individual throttle bodies and an 8250rpm redline. The controversial SMG gearbox divided opinions, but the engine note was unforgettable.
